Sly humor in Burger King ad?

Gary Soup | Jan 24, 200311:05 AM     11

When I pass a Burger King on my way to work in the morning these days, I always notice a poster in the window which proclaims:

"In the land of burgers, the Whopper is King."

The quotes are included, as in to imply that the slogan was borrowed from some familiar source.

Somehow, it always brings to mind the old maxim:

"In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king."

Is this a subtle commentary by some advertising copywriters about BK or fast-food hamburgers in general?
