Slope. Beer.

Beer. Don't care for it much myself (though many have tried to force me), but outer borough suds enthusiasts will potentially be delighted to note that there will soon be a swanky beer emporium on that currently blighted block of 5th between Union & Berkley. I saw a green awning reading "Bierkraft" (sp?) and it dawned on me that was what the gent was talking about in the coffee shop the other day.

A man I'd not seen before was holding forth to the staff about the beer shop he was opening. Seemingly trying to impress, he told Chris, the beautifully wry grill man, "We're going to have 200 (I think he said) beers from all around the world but no Bud!".

Chris cocked a skeptical eyebrow, "No Bud?".

"Right! No Bud!"

Somehow, I don't think Chris is gonna be frequenting the shop, but thought y'all would want to know. And in other 5th Ave. news, the proprietors of the Associated are opening a deli next to the supermarket, and the wanna-be schmancy food store a couple of doors up from Los Pollitos, despite its chalkboard exhortations to the contrary has no greater cheese selection than your average Key Foods. It's like the damn Monty Python skit in there.
