Half-size corn tortillas at La Palma

Bryan Harrell | Jul 17, 200302:10 AM

I was in La Palma on 24th street today. I bought tamales, which were good. But the most interesting thing were these half-size fresh corn tortillas, about four inches in diameter, and they come 24 to a bag. Of course they are tasty and have a nice corn aroma. But I had never seen this size of tortilla for sale in packages before. They are wonderful because they are easy to handle, and you don't need to tear a tortilla in half when you just want half a tortilla.

I also bought a bag of these same tortillas fried crisp for use in making mini-tostadas. Haven't used them yet, but they are undoubtedly easier to handle. Bag of 24 cost $2.50.

Also bought potato chips for a small party at home tonight. La Palma Potato Chips are the best ever, and lend themselves well to dashes of white vinegar (instead of salt) since they are so thick and durable.

La Palma rocks.
