wanted a simple cake recipe to make at the weekend. tried out Sir Gawain's cake, using cranberries and bramley apples. how fabulous! concerned about the sour cranberries, i sprinkled over a bit more sugar than called for. the cake was so fluffy, and the tartness of the fruit contrasted perfectly with it.

i didn't include a photo, since it didn't turn out as pretty as the others. but i'll definitely be making this again, with other combos of fruit.
