Single, poor, and hungry in Paris

ymalcolm | Sep 18, 2002 01:38 PM

I'm spending a week by myself in Paris (October 7-14) and would like to get some recommendations for places where I won't feel out of place eating alone and where I won't feel out of place not eating on an expense account. I'm looking for the 30-40 bucks and under dinners, simple food but yummy. I have a stable of such places where I live in Manhattan, but since I don't know Paris all that well, I thought I'd enlist the help of some locals and more seasoned travelers. I don't really have a neighborhood preference, though I will be staying in the Marais.

Also, on an etiquette note, would it be rude to read at dinner?

Thanks so much,
Yelena
