So I did a search and found a request for info on places to eat in SIngapore, and messages that implied a thread on the subject replying to the request, but I can't seem to find any actual posts - did they fall victim to the Julie Id purges?
In any case, here's my dilemma - I know there's tons of great food out there, but my Taiwanese grandma is in the kitchen making turnip cakes and jellyfish salads and I don't want to miss out on her food unless I'm either out for the day and can't make it back in time for lunch, or there's a guaranteed amazing meal. So I've just been eating out whenever I've been out, which was disastrous yesterday (The SIngapore Zoological Gardens, which are in every other way amazing, appear to have been bought by KFC) and great today (fantastic murtabak near the Joo Chiat Complex, on Changi Road as the sprawl of the complex fades out - you watch them slam down a ball of dough onto a griddle into an enormous, gossamer sheet, fold it up and tuck onions, egg, and minced lamb in between. It's served with a mild, flavorful curry, and manages to be elastic, tender, and flaky at once. Mmm.)
I xeroxed Jonathon Gold's Gourmet article before I came out here, so I have a couple of things in there to go on, but I was looking for other suggestions as well. Thanks!
