From August 6-10, I have four days on my own in Italy and I think I want to go to Siena and Cinque Terre.
I am armed with Rick Steves' Italy 2002 book, which is rather blithe about sleeping in Cinque Terre-- he pretty much suggests showing up and finding a room that day. I hate to leave it to chance. Has anyone had any great sleeping experiences in one of the CInque Terre, or in Siena?
Also, I'd love some recommendations of good places for dinner and breakfast where I won't feel weird dining alone.
Thanks in advance!
