Sichuan peppercorn ban modified

The Chicago Tribune reports that the ban on Sichuan peppercorns was modified in January to allow for the importation of peppercorns that had been heated to 140 degrees for ten minutes. Fuchsia Dunlop reported that she experimented with this at home and found that the peppercorns still "worked", though there was a "slight" loss of aroma and intensity.
