My daughter and I finally got to Sichuan Pavilion in Acton. Details, before I forget:

I had to have hot and sour soup, because I am still searching for one that even comes close to those I was eating in the 70s. Their version (meatless) was pretty good but still far from the best I have had. I may have to resort to making it myself.
My daughter had, don't laugh, sweet and sour chicken. Well, she IS a kid.... The sauce was in a separate bowl and was VERY red. Judging from the flavor, some of this redness is from maraschino cherry juice. It was okay, not the best and not the worst. The texture of the thin, crisp batter was a bit odd when chewed. I didn't think it was bad, but my daughter did not like it.
I had Spicy Pork in Garlic Sauce. It would have been a very nice rendition, but the pork felt uncooked when chewed. The lights were not such that I could do a visual examination, but I THINK it was just very tender because it had been velveted. I am not sure about that though, and it was fairly offputting.
I do intend to go back to their buffet, which effectively is ready weekdays at 12, and not at 11:30 when the restaurant opens. I would like to check out a bit more of their repertoire in a way that is easy on my strained pocketbook, er, pocket.
I have a feeling it is not going to be too exciting, judging from the other folks who were there. BTW, my daughter and I were the only ones eating with chopsticks....
