Sichuan Garden

Dined there on Monday 1/16. The menu offers some unusual dishes, so we
ordered dishes we've never seen before. Appetizers: Green bean tofu (not
really tofu) in chili vinaigrette sauce. The flavorless "tofu" are
finger-length slippery chunks the texture of jello. Ah, the sauce lives up
to its name. Topped with roasted soy nuts. The julienne jellyfish comes
tossed w. the thinnest slivers of carrots and cabbage in a light sesame
sauce. Entrees: prawns in pickled cucumber had a musky flavor. Baby bok choy
shitake mushrooms were braised in a light chicken sauce. Often this type of
sauce is bland; at Sichuam Garden it was mild but tasty. Everything
delicious. Even the tea was better than most restaurants. No desserts available. 295
Washington St. in Brookline Village.
