New York Magazine has a blurb this week about Sicaffe, an Italian chain with two branches in Manhattan, one on John St and one on Lex near 70th (mentioned on Chowhound by somebody recently). This morning, at the John St branch, I tried their house drink, the cappuccino Triestino, which consists of espresso topped with foam. It was dark without tasting burnt, wasn't watery, great foam, one of the best I've had in NYC. Although small, with only a few stools, the branch has a cozy European feel and friendly service. The counterperson mentioned that the new branch, only open three months, has a larger seating area.
