After a day of going well over budget on furniture shopping in High Point we headed to Siagon for dinner based on recs from fellow Hounds. For apps we had the roasted quail and the papaya salad with shrimp and roast pork. The quail had a delicious flavor but a bit hard to fully enjoy due to the size of the birds. The papaya salad was just outstanding. The pork was so moist and tasty. I wish I could have had that dish as an entree. As entrees we has the shaking beef, sort of a vietnamese version of steak frites. The beef was a bit overcooked, which is the norm in Asian cooking so I was forgiving, especially since it tasted good. The other entree was the saigon seafood special, which was shrimp, scallops, and imitation crab (I wish they would just leave that stuff out) is light, lobster sauce with vegetables. it was more complex than other places where I've had this dish, where I've usually found it bland.

It wasn't a great value, but the service was fast, friendly, and unobtrusive. I'll definitely try this place again when I'm in town.
