"NEW" SHISO TREE - Reincarnated with new menu after a 7 months restoration from water flood damage!

Charles Yu | Sep 30, 201808:16 PM

So glad to see them back! Now, newer and better!

Re-vamped menu offers quite a few really interesting new addition.

Stand outs include a house-made 'Charcuterie board' of excellent duck prosciutto, smoked duck breast and country-style terrine. All pickles and coarse grain mustard were also made in-house!. Accompanying crostini bread were coated with ' duck fat'!! Crispy, aromatic.....wow and amazing!

New pasta addition included a Umami laden bomb - 'Braised Nori, Sous-Vide egg, Ikura and seared scallops fettuccine'. Great tasting but could be an acquired taste for some?!

Winner of the new additions must be handed to their 'Clam Chowder' - Creamy, thick, loaded and just plain gorgeous tasting! Another Umami 'nuclear' bomb!

Rest of their old favorites such as the 'Japanese Poutine', ' Beef and Pork Ragu Bolognese pasta '.....were as good as before.

Cannot wait to return and try some of their other new offerings. A couple that I have already penciled in are their ' 'Marinated raw Albacore Tuna Crostini' starter and ' Snow Crab and Ikura cream sauced pasta '.

Only downside of the evening was that they were under-staffed and at times, it takes quite a lot of effort to catch the servers' attention!

Still, for such excellent food quality and at this price point, I have no problem tolerating a bit of minor service related inconvenience!
