After a shopping trip to Sage Books on Rt. 10 in Southampton this afternoon, we moseyed down the road to have some ice cream at Sheldon's, also on Rt. 10. We hadn't been in a while, but I had fond memories of any of the ice creams with peanut butter in it. The DH had chocolate soft serve, and really liked it. He said it was colder, more chocolatey, and less sweet than many he'd tried, and that it was somehow colder than his other favorite soft serve from The Tasty Top in Easthampton.
I had the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream. It was incredible, very creamy, very cheesecakey, a perfect level of sweetness, with swirls of strawberry gloop like you'd get on top of an actual cheesecake. It reminded me of a grown-up, gourmet version of a strawberry hoodsie cup, in some weird way-- must have been the strawberry swirl. It did not, thank goodness, have any chunks of cookie crust mixed in-- just strawberry flavor and the cheesecake flavored ice cream. It was lovely, and I seriously contemplated ruining my supper by going back for a second cup. : )
Sheldon's is in a little red mill building at the bottom of a little hill on Rt. 10, next to a mill pond and little trickle of river-- they're currently doing bridge construction, and it the left immediately after the bridge, heading south towards Westfield. They apparently serve sandwiches and lunch, but we've never tried it. There's a little artsy-craftsy store in the same building called The Cherry Tree that has wooden crafts stuff and other nice things.
