Following a heads up from TonyC and a tweet from, I believe, one of the Hounds, I made my way to Three Travellers Bone Hot Pot restaurant in Monterey Park. Three Travellers (that's the way they spell it) is located at one of the most historic Chinese restaurant locations in Monterey Park, 128 N. Garfield Ave., home to classic restaurants such as Fortuna Seafood (where we had my son's 1st birthday party), Yuan Ten, and the ill advised porridge specialty restaurant, Porridge King. Three Travellers is a branch of a Shanghai based hot pot chain. I'm not sure what distinguishes Shanghai hot pot from others, but here the hot pots have a big pork bone in them. Consequently, the broth seems more flavorful than most local hotpots. I had the small hot pot for one which included thick tofu strips, meatballs, a tofu skin egg roll, bamboo shoots, pork meatballs and napa. Individual pots run between $11 and $13, group pots are more, with add ons available.
