I just received shallots for planting. (my whole garden order is almost 2 months late - even got potatoes today) I notice they are full and round and not cloved in any way. Also the correct size for eating. It just seems like if I plant them I will simply dig up the same thing a few months from now. Do they clove out?

I'm not a stranger to this form of veggie, I have 3 kinds of garlic I planted in the fall and they are doing great, as well as loads of wild onions and perinnial onions. I suspect the shallots should have been planted in the fall also.

Anybody grow shallots?
