After one sip of the heavenly mango drink, I stepped on the gas and raced up Geary. I knew if I didnt put space between me and Creations, Id buy another one, maybe two.
The Creations website says On the seventh day, we created dessert. That drink gave me an appreciation of that slogan.
It was like drinking a snow-filled cloud with fresh mango. I bought a sago with mango and coconut cream. Sago is tiny balls similar to the tapioca balls in bubble tea. However, it is an elegant, refined relative, tiny, silky and wonderful. The drink has three layers, white sago (similar in texture to the tapioca in puddings), fresh mango juice (they make it to order), and coconut cream which is almost like whipped cream. There are a few pieces of fresh mango on top.
I went in there for the fresh mango mochi. I learned how to pronounce mochi. (NOT moki). They were not ready yet so I came back in an hour.
These are just wonderful and beautiful. They are in frilly little gold paper cups. The orange-colored mochi is rolled in fine coconut and stuffed with a piece of fresh mango. This is a lovely light dessert. The mochi was lighter in texture than Ive had before, almost like a mid-point between a regular mochi and a marshmallow.
I remember some posts about Creations when it opened, so if this has been reported, sorry. Im a little too worn out to search. It bears repeating because it was so good.
Creations is a very nice shop on Geary a couple of blocks from 19th. In the afternoons it is deserted empty, that is. They should open one of these in the financial district. People would go nuts over it.
Thanks to JojoA who posted a link to this recent article about Asian desserts in the Chronicle that mentions Creations. Ill be back ASAP.
They were out of hemp seed juice. I was disappointed. I wanted to say I inhaled it.
