SF Chowhound made it to Babbo

After viewing all the chatter here, we had to try it. Landed at JFK at 8PM and called on the way from the airport in the hopes of a late night, last minute res. They said they had nothing open but we decided to take our chances anyway. I mean, how busy could they be at 10:30 on a Wed. night??
Well........We got there to find an hour wait. Even that late on a weeknight.Don't these people work??? I guess we keep earlier hours in SF in general. Since it was 3 hours earlier our time and we had no where else to go, we decided to go for it.
We are so glad we did! It only took 1/2 hour to get a table but it was in the front next to the bar. I guess we could consider ourselves lucky and we would have no former experience to compare it with so it was a fine spot to people watch.
The food and service was fabulous (we closed the place and went through 3 servers but all were friendly and efficient). The menu was unique and everything we tried was wonderful.......Grilled Octopus, Beet Salad,Mint Love Letters, Pumpkin Lune, a Grilled Prawn special entree and CHOCOLATE for dessert.

Thanks Chowhounds for the wonderful lead!
