Any one remember Seymore's steak house on Carrollton and Canal? A good sirlon or poterhouse with a potato and salad. Wash it down with a cold Jax beer or a glass of Taylor's burgundy. All at a decent price. Same as Raoul's on veterens. Not a steak house, but a good steak at a good price. Martin Bros out on Chef highway, same thing. Lenfant's also. All places that cooked a steak as good as Ruth's, Brennans Saia's etc and didn't cost a weeks pay. Now it seems like everytime a new steak house opens, they try to out do the others and the result is a steak that only few can afford. In my opinion, we lost a lot when places like the above closed. Places that were not high end, but not low either. Is there anyplace like this left? What brought this on was a recent trip to Kansas city. Steak country to be sure. Anyway, while there I ate 8 meals. 5 were steak at simple places like the ones mentioned. All good steaks and good prices.
