I had a day off yesterday and went to the new Natick Collection (got to fondle a $93,000 coat in Neiman Marcus - pretty exciting). Had been looking forward to trying Sel de la Terre and was pretty let down. We started w/a couple of appies (gougers?), I got the eggplant/goat cheese one, pretty tasty but a bit too chilled - something closer to room temp would've been tastier. A nice touch was the black walnuts it was sprinkled with, much tastier than english walnuts. Good bread too. The other was roasted shallots & garlic....just drowning in balsamic, we sent it back.
My friend got a salad - some tired looking romaine, we both thought it was iceberg when first put down, white, a bit yucky looking. About half as much as you'd expect in a salad bowl, and loaded w/sliced raw onions....more onions than greens. Grilled chicken on top was just okay. Dressing lacking in flavor (parm/red wine I think). I got the grilled chicken panini. Tasty, but i just expected more from a restaurant like this....it was comparable to Panera. Homemade potato chips, very yummy. We got the rosemary pommes frites to split, those were again just okay - not nearly as tasty as those at Red Stripe in Providence. A bit dry.
We each had 2 glasses of wine, prices were what you'd expect ($8-13/glass). All in all I wouldn't go back.
