My family is traveling to Boston the first weekend in March to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. We're looking for a special-occasion Saturday dinner spot that won't completely break the bank (entrees under $30, ideally), where my 13- and 10-year-old nieces can find something to eat, and where Mom can get one of her favorites: lobster, steak, French, or Italian. Party of 7 in all. We'll be staying downtown but would be happy to travel by T or car to Cambridge or outskirts for the right spot. I just went through Boston mag's top 50 list and found most menus to be a little too inaccessible for this group. Also open to suggestions for casual dinner on Friday, fun breakfast/brunch on Saturday, and possibly tea on Saturday afternoon. And despite her age, Mom is not a blue-hair type, so we want to avoid crusty/fusty-type places but still need to be able to hear each other. THANK YOU, Chowhounders!
