Seated next to the kitchen in an empty restaurant?

I know there's been a previous posting about this, but I can't find it - sorry. But I'd like to know if others also get seated next to the kitchen in an otherwise empty restaurant? I just returned from a weekend trip with my 12-yr-old daughter and that happened to us on 2 out of 3 dinners (Rainforest Cafe and Joaquim Splichal's Catal). When my husband is with us, he always insists that we change tables, but I hate to make a fuss in front of our daughter. Am I wrong? BTW: my kid is on the quiet/shy side, and we are always nicely dressed and showered for dinner. ;-) TIA.
