Seasoning a crepe pan- discoloration normal?

Hi Chowies!
I am so excited, I just got a French blue steel crepe pan (Mauviel M'steel from bed bath beyond). The instructions to season it said to heat oil on it for 5 min then let cool and wipe oil off, repeat. I did this but the oil burned and the pan got partly discolored (or the oil?). I'm wondering if this is a problem or part of the process. Pics below (first is the burnt pan surface, second is the bottom of the pan in case that's relevant.. I don't know..)

I googled a bit and found one description of seasoning crepe pans that said you should burn the *whole* thing with burning oil until the whole pan is dark (at seriouseats- http://www.seriouseats.com/2008/02/in...).

So.. What do you recommend? Should I wash it and start over? Or continue along despite the burnt color on half of it?

YAY CREPES! Merci y'all!
