In search of sfogiatelle

gini | Feb 10, 2006 11:00 AM

I am on a mission. My favorite pastery is sfogiatelle. I have been trying them everywhere and have yet to find a superior one.

Modern's has essentially no taste and the dough is often burned on the edges.

Bova's is fine and totally suffices at 2am, but their ricotta pie is so much better that I rarely get the pastry.

Cafe Vittoria's are just plain bad - the filling is clumpy and bland.

Cafe Dolce in Winchester imports theirs from Italy and then bakes them on premisis. This is the best tasting one yet, but still, I search.

Can other hounds point me in the right direction?
