8 Dundas St E, Toronto, ON M5B 2G9
This MR.JERK was on the north-east corner east of Yonge on Dundas. Across the street was their friendly rival Coconut Grove in its original location before they moved near University on Dundas.
Obviously, I know there are a few MR.JERK franchises spread through out the GTA. Anyway, I've been a bit nostalgic for their simply delicious food and just wanna know if the owner is still around from the Yonge/Dundas location. Perhaps, he relocated or simply started another restaurant with no ties to Mr.JERK? Anyone have any info about his whereabouts and what he's doing? I really, really miss his AWESOME food!!! :(
Surely if the owner and his family are still living in the Toronto area, somebody from the Caribbean community would probably have bumped into him at one of the Caribana events over the years. Right?
It's been years since I last saw the owner back in my Ryerson days. He was a middle-aged Chinese man from Jamaica, with the thick Caribbean accent too. Only thing, I remember was he wore glasses and probably had a mustache. I'm only guessing, but for some reason my foggy memory seems to think his name was Roland or something??? In the 90's, his brother also ran another MR.JERK as well on Eglinton West near Oakwood.
Even though from what I've been told each MR.JERK franchise uses the same secret method for their jerk chicken and pork recipes. I swear to GOD...this old location was the best of all MR.JERK's or any known universe for Caribbean and West Indian food.
Please somebody enlighten me with some info? ;)
