in search of the best french markets. . .

As the family expands and the number of hungry chowpups increase, two weeks in hotels in Paris is starting to squeeze the budget---even when we stay at the hotel with the kitchen. I started thinking about renting a house way outside of Paris, somewhere in France, hitting the markets and just cooking at home. But where to go? Mind you, we won't be hunting down the latest Michellin stars, just finding good food and a stove to cook it on.

I'm going to read Patricia Wells and my various French market books but where have you gone in France where you visited a market that just made you want to kill for a fire and some cookware? And by market, I do mean those cool weekly or thrice weekly jobs.

For what its worth, this trip is likely to be late October/early November. I know that I should be able to get wild game like boar and hopefully some mushrooms to, if we head south.
