My first visit to Sea Salt tonight. It was one of the best meals I've had recently. The service was stellar- a very knowledgable waitperson, timing of service was perfect, and both warm and professional.
Highlight of the meal- grilled arctic char with creamed corn, brussel sprouts and bacon. This was such an amazing blend of flavors. A crispy grilled piece of char on a bed of thin-sliced (mandolined, the waitperson said) pieces of braised sprouts, mixed with chunks of bacon, with creamed corn around one edge of the char. Even my bf, who is a self-professed brussel sprout hater, loved the sprouts.
BF had the squid with tomato, pumpkin seeds, cilantro and habanero. He absolutely loved it (I'm not much of a squid eater, so I can't comment).
We also had a side of delicious fries (similar to those you get at Luka's) and a beet, goat cheese, and pistachio nut salad that was more interesting than delicious - it tasted very strongly of grapefruit to me.
Dessert was stellar. I had the choc-caramel-almond torte I've read about on chowhound. The mint ice cream was amazing and tasted like fresh mint. The torte dulled in comparison to the ice cream. BF had a warm pear cake with hazelnut mascarpone. This is a man who doesn't really like sweet things, and yet he refused to give me more than the tiniest taste, so it must have been pretty darn good.
Dinner for two with non-alcoholic drinks and coffee came to $70, and was worth every penny.
