Sea Salt in Berkeley-long

Diane | Jul 19, 200502:06 PM

Ate dinner last night at Sea Salt, the new venture from the people from Lalimes etc. It is exclusively seafood and fish. There are about five appetizers, three to four salads and about ten entrees- three of which were sandwiches. Two of our party ordered the the cucumber salad and ahi tuna with salt rosted potatoes, one ordered soft shell crab and a side of coleslaw and a side of thick cut fried potatoes. I ordered crabcakes only. The salads and sides were pronounced great- and the ahi tuna and soft shell crab and crab cakes were also very good. My only complaint is that my portion was three small crabcakes with "gazpacho vegetables and watercress" was really just a small garnish of veggies and not a side dish as I expected. The entree was $15- but very small. The apricot sorbet that was ordered for dessert was o.k. I think it was more that the apricots had no flavor and the texture was a bit icy. The shortbread cookies were good. The staff was very professional and nice. They do not have a liquor license, but hope to in two weeks. Because of this they did wave the corkage fee which will be $15. They do not take reservations for less than six and are open continuously from 11-10 I believe. This is a nice addition to Berkeley neighborhood places.
