SEA - Coffee find

When was the last time you walked into a coffee shop and the place actually smelled of roasting coffee?

I serendipitously stumbled across such a place this afternoon when my bus route was canceled due to snow and I had to walk home. Upon entry the place was warm and inviting, the air was thick with the smell of fresh roasted beans, and the owner/roaster was just finishing up a batch of dark roast. Being more of a Sumatra girl I purchased a pound for $12 - which is very reasonable for fair trade, organically grown coffee. The proprietor, Neal Brown, told me the batch was about an hour old. I made my purchase, scurried the remaining half mile home, and am now sipping a wonderfully balanced cuppa joe - not acidic, not at all bitter, just plain good coffee.

The place is called Brown & Co. and it's located at 192nd and 15th Ave. NE in Shoreline (just north of the North City neighborhood). My sense of wanting to support all things mom and pop tells me to give a big shout out for this place, I look forward to trying some of his other roasts, after my Sumatra supply dwindles.
