Thanks, Gayla, for organizing the Trattoria di IV dinner -- we had a great time.
We started out with a super-crisp pizza as a lagniappe (sp?) or surprise appetizer, on the house. We ordered two artichoke dips (creamy and garlicky) and two antipasto plates (plenty of thinly sliced meats and a big hunk of excellent brie.)
Icy salads with plenty of crunchies, and butternut squash soup came next. Entrees were mostly a pork chop with pumpkin risotto and osso buco with lemon mashed potatoes. Both were delicious -- you just can't go wrong at Trattoria di IV. I don't know if anybody else had other blackboard choices.
Desserts were tiramisu (yum) poached pear and a baked apple with ...was it ice cream? I think all the desserts are made by Chef Roa and the entrees by one of her partners, Chef Liliana Navarette.
They are all charming and every day is customer appreciation day.
I'm not good at food descriptions, but I know a good dinner party when I see one. Best was seeing old Chowhounds from previous Chowfests and meeting some brand new ones.
