The School

We went for lunch at The School (Brimley/14th) yesterday. As usual the service was impeccable. My lightly fried calamari was absolutely delicious and they should have it offered as a main course. My friend had the special chicken breast stuffed with shrimps which was delicately flavoured and came with rice. My own roasted lamb was a disappointment however - it appears they fast roasted the lamb and cut it into chunks some of which had sinews. I guess I was expecting slow roasted leg of lamb to fall off the bone (as in most fine dining establishments). The brocolli had more stem than usually served so was tough rather than crispy, and the mashed potato was bland (mixed with water).

I think the ambience at the David Duncan is more cosy and less clinical, and the food of a better quality at a similar price (although the DD has quite a small selection for lunch).
