Gordon's in Waltham strikes again. I have a singular passion for good Sauternes (and Port but that's another story).
Gordon's sent me one of their usual e-mails raving about a Cadillac Botrytis wine:
- From Bordeaux
- Many details about how, when it was grown, for anyone who wants the whole description send me an e-mail aram_salzmanatyahoodotcom
- Price so cheap I thought it must be crap...
Now not only was this not crap, but rather one of the best Sauternes style wines I have had in the last 10 years. Remarkable flavors: pear, tropical fruit, honey, a touch of coconut. Fabulous stuff. I cannot say enough good things about it.
I have paid $60+ for wines not nearly as good.
Did I mention that I drank some with a homemade "pot de foie gras" that the cousin of a friend of mine made herself in France 8-) slurp, yum.
2002 Chateau Mimoires, Cadillac full price $19.99,
sale $15.99 NET
P.S. I forgot to mention I bought 18 bottles so far. This stuff will last for 20 years!
