I having a smallish (25 people max) casual party on Saturday afternoon for which I'm trying very hard not to go overboard, given that the last party of this sort almost cause a divorce before we were even married. So, I'm looking to go with simple stuff, either purchased/pre-made or things that I can throw together the night before or in the morning with little fuss, grazable food. It's mostly finger food (cheese stuffed dates wrapped in prosciutto, toasted almonds, bruschetta with the standard tomatoes and basil and/or purchased tapanade, Bon Appetite's honeydew and prosciutto with balsamic and mint from this months magazine, 3 cheeses w/crackers, a pate)
I think I have a good handle on this though I'm open to suggestions (I'm still thinking of adding a baba ganoush/pita thing and/or a pasta salad). But, where I'm really stumped is dessert. I'd like to add some fruit, to set off the rich stuff above but also for dessert. Or, I'm thinking about a good ginger molasses cookie recipe I can mix at night and bake in the morning. And, Pasta & Co has some great little pastry shells but what to fill them with?
I'm also trying to keep in mind the heat (mid 80s projected) and not wanting anything that will need excessive chilling (can be set on the table for a while).
