Saravana Bhavaan

Went to Saravana Bhavaan (in Sunnyvale) last Friday evening - what a great scene. Full of local Indian families, generating a general good-time din. Orders were filled immediately, even when the restaurant was full. I noticed that in the time our group of 5 completed dinner, tables around us went through three similar-sized groups. The food is plentiful and delicious. I had ghee pongal - a rice dish with peppers and cashews, and onion bhaji, with a mango lassi. My son had an immense dosai which he - a fairly picky guy - really liked. Others had dinner assortments of breads, rice and curries. Dinner for 5 was about $50. It still looks like CoCo's inside, but the food and scene are very different - really a gustatory and cultural feast.
