went to this place friday night to try a bowl of their soup even though they have a C rating (should i be concerned?). i had gone there last friday in the rain to get some soup, but they wouldnt let me order as it was almost 8 when they close. anyway, i had the woon sen tom yum (#9), and it was pretty dang good. it has ground pork, shrimp, liver, fish balls, bean sprouts, green onions, and some other round white balls in it (probably some fish thing i'm guessing). i just couldnt eat the liver because i dont like the texture of it. it reminds me of something unpleasant and chalky, for lack of a better word. i guess you could call it thai pho, cuz it has a lot of the same ingredients. it didnt hit the spot as nearly as it would have had it been raining, but it was still good nonetheless. it was pretty spicy too (granted my tolerance isnt that high), but i had added some pepper flakes and jalapenos of course. i swear the woman mustve filled up my glass of water like 10 times, haha. anything else you recommend at this place, perhaps something w/ no organs?
also, before i hit SAPP, i stopped at this great thai bakery next to ganda in the outside mall where i tried panchi for the first time - how wonderful it is! it's like a taro corncake, and i only got it cuz i saw the woman making them and they looked so pretty w/ that lavendar color. they were still warm too, what a treat! i cant wait to go get some more...i'm wondering if there's any good places in west hollywood that make these? thanks for any info
