My San Antonio/South Padre Trip...

got back last night. wanted to thank everyone for their recommendations.

didn't get to eat much in san antonio. fly in, went to a friend's party and left the next morning for south padre. padre was what i expected...nothing good on the island but decent stuff in port isabel.

went to sea ranch the first night and i had the red snapper throats. they were decent...better than everything else at the restaurant. not as boney as i imagined but i wouldnt order them again. sea ranch is a seafood joint that tries to be a fine dining restaurant and comes up short. nice waiter but totally forgettable.

next day, ate at south padre brewing company. their blond ale was boring and their burger was sad. was so bummed out, i didnt even eat dinner. ate my groceries from whole foods instead.

following morning, went to manual's in port isabel for some chorizo and eggs in that tortilla...tasted like a pancake...it was awesome. and the head guy was nice as hell...finally, some decent food. my girlfriend loved the migas.

for dinner, we went to manchelos...the fried seafood place behind white sands in port isabel. had dinner overlooking the harbor. wasnt mindblowing but a cold beer, great fried oysters and shrimp and my friends definitely made it a nice time. nice guys there too.

not much else to mention...had a whataburger on the drive back to san antonio...it was good...for fast food. went to gruene for dinner that night and had a passable ny strip steak. later that night, we drove to the cowboy dancehall which was a total trip...had $1 lone stars and danced badly to some country while watching the spurs win by 1 point.

wish i got the chance to eat more in brownsville...never got any barbacoa or bbq for that matter...
