Went to Salts for the first time last night and it was if we were celebrating our anniversary in Paris rather than in Cambridge.
We started off with a tasty bowl of celery root soup (which had a braised sweetbread life preserver floating in it) and a terrific terrine of roasted duck foie gras and figs. We went on to share Salts' often praised duck, carved at our table with great style by a young French waiter who could well double as a surgeon during the day. The duck was the best we've had in Boston --zero fat, crispy skin. Perfect. Washed it all down with a nice Pinot and finished the night off with two great tarts, one lemon and the other quince.
All this and a special bonus of running into old friend Charley Davidson of the Andover Shop, one of the city's nicest people.
