Salad King -- Finally tried it

Finally tried Salad King a week or so ago. I'm underwhelmed, to tell the truth. First, I have to say I am not a big fan of Thai food on the whole and have never understood its popularity. (I have a feeling it would be very much better in Thailand, though.) However, I was forced into a corner on that night and went to SK, buoyed by all the wonderful comments I have heard about it, here and elsewhere.

I got pad thai (5 chili) and combination spicy (3 chili). Oh and some veg spring rolls.

Spring rolls were OK. The sauce wasn't too exciting though. Not enough zing.
Pad Thai was OK. Just OK. I still prefer the old Bamboo or these days Queen Mother -- Less gummy and fresher.
Combination spicy was a huge disappointment. It was a chopped up mess of seafood and carrots and onions (I think). The whole thing was the same texture and all the tastes blended too. This was an expensive dish for SK.

Their ordering system is reasonably good. Could do better. Oh and I can not stand it when servers go into long rants about the spiciness of the chili system, suggesting I may not be able to handle it. Why bother with a chili rating system if you don't trust your customers to choose for themselves. Their menu warns that the food is already quite spicy. Not IMO. And, yes, it's OK to mention it briefly -- as in, do you like your food spicy? -- but PUHLEEZ don't go on about it. It's insulting.

So that's it. I won't bother with it again. Now all you SK fans can throw the rotten tomatoes at me.
