I thought I'd talk about the restaurants I've been to in the last few weeks and see if anyone else has a few cents to add.
Salad King: After much "it's great" by a colleague and from this forum, I stopped by there one late weekday afternoon to get some take out and ordered the Sea Queen. First off, I once thought Springroll on Yonge was the noisiest restaurant I've ever been in, but they are great contenders. The food itself I thought was just ok, but then again, perhaps I picked the wrong item for takeout. Service was definitely fast though.
Eggspectations: Just stopped by there this saturday with much anticipation (I've been to the one in Montreal 7-8 years ago and loved it). Don't remember that they had that many choices!! Had cappucino (quite nice) and standard American breakfast (nice toast and potatoes!), my friends had Eggspectation (omelette with everything) and loved it so much that one of them almost licked the entire plate clean, with fruits and everything! Very friendly service, fun decor (although the ceiling's a bit too low for my taste), and the owner Lucky walks around and chats with his customers.
Kama: Found this place when looking for a quickish dinner before going to see "Hairspray" - it's in the basement and much bigger than I expected. Many choices (no paneer though!) although things were spread out a bit odd - wherever you turn, you see something new, and you think you have it all covered once you hit the desert table, but right next to the desert (and to the right) are more savoury dishes. One of the few Indian buffets that I know that offer more than one type of naan buffet-style. Impeccable staff who even walked around with freshly made Chicken Tikka (best one I've tasted, with the breast meat not being dry at all). Very friendly service who also gave us another 15% coupon for our next visit (there is a 10% coupon available online).
Marcello's: Family-style pizzeria on St. Clair West with reasonable prices ($10-15) for pizza and pasta. Had Maguarita pizza and Farfalle rose pasta which were both great. Antipasti (esp grilled veggies) were good, too. Avoid going on saturday at 8 though, long line-ups of big families.
