Can I safely freeze & thaw smoked salmon more than once?

Dear Chowhounds,

I recently purchased a side of smoked salmon and promptly placed it in my freezer.

A week later, I partially defrosted it, just enough to portion out the smoked salmon into smaller sizes and placed them into individual freezer ziplock bags, back in the freezer.

My question is:
1) is it safe to take out the individual portions, thaw & eat them? (I assume this is okay but i'd just like some reassurance from those who had the same experience)
2) Is it safe to re-freeze the individual portions? i.e. some portions are bigger and i want to just thaw & eat half of the individual portion.

Thanks much!
Mav
