Safe Frozen Shrimp

sandiasingh | Dec 10, 201110:03 AM

Since the Southwest board on Chowhound is almost inactive, I will pose this question to a broader audience. I live in the beautiful, albeit landlocked, state of New Mexico. Good seafood and fish can be a challenge here even with daily air shipments coming from the West Coast. I shop almost exclusively at Whole Foods and am having trouble finding a good frozen shrimp. I will not eat anything from the Gulf States, Hawaii or Japan. Does anyone know of an even somewhat reliable, safe brand to buy from Costco or anywhere else that MOST LIKELY does not contain radiation or BP oil or other contaminants from the spill?

BTW when I talked to the fishmonger at WFM recently about getting fish bones to make fish broth with, he told me that don't have any and, in fact, they are not receiving any whole fish anymore from corporate. Everything is cleaned and filleted when it arrives in the store.
