Rx with parking - long

Good news for all of us who think about parking when we decide where to go - Rx, at 45th and Spruce, now has free parking close to the restaurant. No more circling around looking.

Six of us were there for dinner last week and had a great time. This is a friendly, pleasant, casual place and we all enjoyed our food.

I liked my Rx salad, and people enjoyed the Brie grilled cheese appetizer and the scallops but the absolute highlight was/were the sesame-fried calamari. These were as good as we have ever had: tender, sweet, light and melt-in-your-mouth.

My entree was the squab breast & duck leg confit with buttered Savoy cabbage and sweet potato flan (I'm quoting from the menu) and I loved it. The squab was tender and delicious and the cabbage had a marvelous flavor. (Maybe the butter!) The person who had the beef short ribs raved about that.

My husband had the whole grilled branzino, which he said was good but could have used about five minutes less in the oven. He fileted his himself, but they will gladly filet it for you; that's what they did for another friend who ordered it and enjoyed it. It came with an interesting combination that included mango and was evidently delightful. (I didn't get to taste that.)

We were too full for dessert, plus (a pity) I was with virtuous, weight-conscious people.

Rx has a $25 prix fixe menu from Tuesday through Thursday: choose an appetizer, entree and dessert.
I am ready to rush back and have the calimari, the squab, and definitely dessert.
