Although I am generally not a big fan of Restaurant Week, I found myself at 701 yesterday for lunch. I have to say that the RW lunch menu for $20.03 was great. I have always liked 701 for its spaciousness and quiet ambience as well as the food but I was still very impressed with the choices and quality of the lunch menu.
Among the appetizers were an heirloom tomato salad and divers scallops with corn and beans--both excellent.
Main courses included monkfish, trout and veal--all were delicious.
And desserts--creme brulee, seasonal berries with sorbet, a chocolate praline concoction and a raspberry-mango mousse all disappeared quickly.
It was crowded but not noisy and the service was excellent.
