A new local addition to the national steak house chain; it's in downtown Ann Arbor on 4th, right next to where the Greyhound Bus stop is. They opened up earlier this year in April. I was there in August for an invitation only event with a fixed menu.
First impressions are nothing special, as it looks like just any other red brick building with large windows facing the street.
Once inside, the decor is modern and sleek, with two floors of dining area and huge wide staircase made of stone, granite I think. It's big; I've read the place seats almost 300.
The appetizer was seared ahi tuna seasoned with ginger and mustard and was very good. A house salad was served, fresh and crisp. Main course was a mixed grill, with a 6 oz filet and free range grilled 1/4 chicken. Sides were mashed potatoes and fresh steamed broccoli. Desert was a 'chocolate sin cake' and chocolate mint medallions.
The filet and mashed potatoes were swimming in butter, assuming you like them that way; I didn't have a problem with it ( I kept thinking where is the Zip Sauce...). The filet was medium rare, and was as expected, tender and tasty.
The chicken was different, being very well done crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. It was also very highly seasoned with salt and herbs. I liked it anyway, some other diners did not.
One note of caution: The filet was served on a very hot plate that can burn you. Yes, burn. Do not touch it.
The service was top notch in all respects, and being so new everything was pretty much gleaming clean.
All in all an easy recommendation, if you are in the mood for steak and want to spend a lot of money. Based on the standard menu, I figured my meal would cost somewhere north of $70, not counting a bar tab or wine.
