Stopped by 9N9 today for the best banh mi I've had from them thus far. I used to try to ask for certain kinds, but either my pronunciation was way-off or they play a spin-the-wheel game on me, b/c I always got something different than what I was trying to order. Then I just started asking for either beef or pork etc, and that didn't seem to matter either. Now it's at the point that I walk in and the lady at the counter just gives me one that she thinks I should have. Most of the time she's right.
Today was a beef one, which was so nice & tender, and potently flavorful like their broths, but perhaps more importantly, the bread was flawless today (maybe since I stopped in early). Laced with a good drizzle of their hot sauce, this was probably the best sandwich I've had in the RTP. For only 2 bucks.
Anther good lunch/sammich includes Rub's brisket or pulled (both have generous portions of burnt ends).
Neomonde makes a pretty competent sandwich, insofar as the components go, but they don't exactly put it together that well.
Deli sandwiches are pretty disastrous 'round here, mostly due to the fact that Boar's Head is ubiquitous at every deli in the Triangle (not to mention bread problems).
There's a new place that opened up called Serena that's supposed to be good, but it's always so slammed that I have no desire to get near the place.
