Hit a couple different on spots on this trip to Montreal. Thanks for the Foothills Restaurant suggestion, in Warner NH. Lots of basic choices, friendly service. My friend got the huge burger club w/ potato salad which was pretty good. I went with a grilled cheese w/ tomato and bacon on marble rye which was excellent except for the pathetic not even pink tomato. Hand cut fries were good as well. Sandwiches were about $6 with a choice of three sides. Stopped for a cookie and iced coffee at La Brioche in Montpelier and thought the coffee was as good as Capitol Grounds. Ssomeone here thought otherwise and I'm not an expert, but it seemed fine altho my friend wasn't overly psyched with his espresso.
Went to the Coffee Cup cafe in Montpelier on the way back, got the last booth before a busy lunch rush. Things took a while but the special of 2 eggs, hash and home fries was pretty good ($5.99). Don't get the English muffin tho, it's like the worst generic store brand served with margerine. They don't automatically serve home fries with most egg dishes tho. Pancakes were huge. Not a bad little spot.
