Rosa Mexicano

Sthitch | Jun 9, 2004 09:19 AM

I went to Rosa Mexicano last week. I was not very happy with the food, but I must say the service was superb. The chips tasted like they were out of a bag, not fresh and warm like I would get at Rio Grande. The Guacamole was nothing special, but they charge you $12 for a bowl of it (recommend a pass on this). I had ordered crab enchiladas that I was not impressed by at all. The tortilla was too thick and the crab just didn’t taste right, it seemed like it came out of a can (not a single lump to be found). My wife had a nice pork pie (sorry I cannot remember the exact name) that was quite good, and my other two dinner companions got the pork enchilada special that was also tasty.
Desert was interesting, when I saw the menu I noticed a chocolate and chipotle cake that really intrigued me. The waiter told me that it was rather bland and that I would be better off with the molten chocolate cake. One of my dinner companions ordered the flan. I have to say the deserts were by far the highlight of the meal. Both were quite good. I might try it again, but I do not hold out much hope that it would get better.
