Rome in April with a 9-month old

A few questions. First, I've never been to Italy, let alone Rome. I'll be there for only a weekend with my wife and will-be 9-month old daughter. Two questions:

1) What should I keep in mind when eating out with a small baby in Italy? I'm certainly not planning on frequenting any swanky, quiet fine-dining places, but would like to have a few sit-down meals if possible. Is it taboo to eat out at all with little tykes? Sounds lame, I know, but I'm a little paranoid...

2) And on that note, do you have any recommendations of restaurants appropriate to take kiddies that aren't too far out of the way of normal tourist spots? I'm looking for casual, relatively inexpensive places. Not touristy, but don't need completely obscure places where someone who speaks no italian would have trouble. I'm hoping to put together a list of sit-down and on-the-go places (pizzerias, etc.).

Thanks in advance for any and all help. Really appreciate it!
