"RITZY PALACE," MARKHAM - Consistently great Cantonese cuisine during both normal & Covid times!

Charles Yu | Oct 17, 202005:48 PM     1

With a new round of Covid restriction coming to York region next week. We decided to squeeze in one last dine-in meal before we have to once again endure 28 days of ho-hum 'lock-down' food.

Compare to those condensation filled take-out Cantonese food, our sit-in dinner tonight, featuring piping hot dishes, was well executed and a sheer joy to eat. Talk about difference between night and day!

The ultra-crispy, perfectly seasoned Sweet & Sour pork was still one of the top 2-3 rendition in town. The lettuce wrap second course of the Peking Duck was amazing. The wok-hay aroma and taste was fascinating! Garlic dusted Maggi sauce pan seared filet mignon cubes was as tasty as before. IMHO, no body does it better! The addition of a touch of butter at the end took the dish over the top! So fragrant and delectable! The generously coated salted duck egg yolk Tiger prawns were crunchy and mouth-watering.

Instead of the normal German Riesling or Alsace Gewurztraminer, the bottle of slightly sweet, late harvest German Scheurebe I brought along paired extremely well with most of the slightly sweet biased dishes.

All in all, a most enjoyable Chinese meal... until, God knows when?!
