How ripe do Bosc's need to be for roasting?

DH bought them yesterday and they were pretty firm I put them in a brown paper bag, added and apple and just checked. They are still pretty firm. I do not want to ruin the dish. I am baking them with butternut squash. Should I just leave them out entirely?
